Question
- How to transfer Plesk key from one server to another?
- I need to install my Plesk license on a new server
- Is it possible to migrate Plesk license?
Answer
According to End-User License Agreement, one Plesk license can be used only on one Plesk installation at a time. If it is required to transfer the Plesk license from one server to another, follow the steps below:
-
Before the transfer, make sure that your old server has been shut down (shut down means complete Plesk deinstallation, server re-deployment, VPS deletion).
-
For licenses purchased through the Online Store, retrieve your activation code by logging into Platform 360. For licenses purchased from other sources, please refer to this guide.
-
Login to Plesk, then go to Tools & Settings > License Information > click Install Key.
Note: In case you are getting IP error, the following article might be useful: Unable to install/retrieve Plesk license: The current Plesk license cannot be used with the X.X.X.X IP address because the license is bound to another IP
If your license was included into cloud instance with Plesk by default, it is not possible to move this license to the other server.
If your license was purchased through a Plesk reseller, it will be required to contact the reseller for assistance.

It is fully unclear what I need to do on the new server. How can I use the activation code if I had to buy a licence for the new server (as I had more than 3 domains, so it means that I could NOT migrate my 3+ domains to the new server otherwise...)?
Also the old activation code does not work on the new server. I obtained it (the old site's activation code) in plesk360 but does not work on the new site.
