Question

How to install the Plesk license?

Answer

To install the Plesk license, use your activation code - a combination of numbers and letters XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX.

  1. Log in to Plesk.
  2. Go to Tools & Settings > License Information (License Management in previous Plesk versions) > click Install Key.

Note: To install an additional purchased license, click the Retrieve Keys button. If the purchased license was not retrieved, switch to the Additional License Keys tab and click the Install key button to install it manually.

Installing the Plesk license using a license key file

By default, license file upload is disabled in Plesk Onyx 17.8 and later versions. If you need the ability to install Plesk license keys and additional license keys by uploading a license key file, see this documentation page to enable it.

Once Plesk license file upload is activated:

  1. Go to Tools & Settings > License Information (or License Management) > click Install Key.
  2. Choose Upload a license key file.
  3. Click Browse... and specify the path to a .zip key file. Click OK.
Installing the Plesk license via a command-line interface

  1. Connect to a Plesk server via SSH (Linux) / RDP (Windows Server).
  2. Use the command below (on Windows Server, start a command prompt as an administrator):
    • To install a license using an activation code

MYSQL_LIN: plesk bin license --install XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX

    • To install a license using a license key file

MYSQL_LIN: plesk bin license --install /path/to/PLSK.XXXXXXXX.XXXX.xml

  • I did this and I did this via CLI.

Since around a year this monthly procedure is not executed. By denial at using the gmail clients or the "insecure" messages at opening my own website I get that plesk somehow stopped working again.

I need a stepwise description how to ensure that this will executed reliable. It is nearly the worst case for my business to see that the letsencrypt updates wasn't executed etc.

  • At the moment the description seemed to fail on my system. Exactly the type of licence trouble that booked users should never see - but I cannot get rid of it since one year.

  • As described I repeated this again  without success. The licence page says again that my next update is in 4 days.

And if I will not be there, it will again mark my server as not being valid. That's a mess. Where can I find support for this?
