Unable to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) under customer or reseller account in Plesk: QR code is not displayed

Symptoms

  • When setting up Multi-Factor Authentication for an administrator or a customer user in Plesk, the QR code is not displayed on the Extensions > MFA > Enable MFA screen.
  • Clicking Could not scan the QR code? and copying the value from Enter the key returns an Undefined value.
  • The issue occurs when the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) extension version 1.3.2-18453 is installed.

Cause

Product issue:

  • #EXTPLESK-14305 "Fixed an issue where, when setting up MFA for customer and reseller accounts, the QR code was not shown, and the “Could not scan the QR code?” option did not show the key either."

If update is not possible for some reason you may try the following

In order to resolve the issue, update the Multi-Factor Authentication extension to the latest version.
