Symptoms
Upon trying to create thresholds within Grafana to trigger alerts, the option to set these thresholds no longer appears in the monitoring extension, making it impossible to configure alerts through the usual interface.
Cause
Legacy alerts functionality has been removed from Grafana. This removal affects how alerts are managed and configured within the extension.
Currently, the monitoring extension includes Grafana version 10 because later versions, starting from version 11, introduced significant breaking changes in their APIs. These changes are not compatible with the existing ext-grafana extension code. As a result, it was not possible to perform a straightforward update to newer Grafana versions while maintaining alert functionality within the extension.
Resolution
A new version of the Grafana/Monitoring extension has been released, restoring alert functionality and upgrading Grafana to version 12.
