Question

  • Why was AWStats deprecated, what tool replaces it, and what happens to existing servers and domains that still use AWStats?

Answer

As of November 2025, AWStats is no longer actively maintained and is therefore being removed from Plesk. Because of this, AWStats has been marked as deprecated throughout the Plesk interface and installer and is no longer recommended for new use.

Starting with Plesk Obsidian 18.0.77, GoAccess is the default and recommended web statistics tool. On Plesk for Linux, GoAccess is available as the supported replacement for AWStats. On Plesk for Windows, Webalizer continues to be available as an alternative web statistics solution.

Customers who already use AWStats can continue to access it at the domain level for existing configurations. However, in service plans AWStats is marked as deprecated, meaning it is no longer recommended and should be considered a legacy component. New installations and future configurations should use GoAccess on Linux or Webalizer on Windows instead.

  • Is there a way to change all subscriptions to GoAccess?  Can you assist by providing a script that would replace AWStats with GoAccess for all subscriptions?

Also, is there a way to easily switch AWstats with GoAccess in all Service Plans at once?

  • I installed GoAccess using the Plesk Installer, however, it does not appear as an option to select anywhere.  Only AWstats is listed as an option for web statistics.
