Plesk Sitejet Builder editing error: Can not access Sitejet Website Builder for this domain after migration.

kb: bug Plesk for Windows Plesk for Linux ext: sitejet

Symptoms

After migrating a Plesk domain created with Sitejet, opening the builder on the new server fails with this error:

Error: Can not access Sitejet Website Builder for this domain. Please check if this domain has been migrated or restored onto another server.

Cause

The API key required by Sitejet Builder wasn't generated after migration.

Resolution

Contact Plesk Support with server access enabled and the Plesk license installed on the target server. This is necessary to manually assign the correct API key to the Plesk installation.

In version 1.2 of the Sitejet Builder extension, improvements were made so that the Sitejet API key is automatically transferred or regenerated in some cases. It's planned to improve the API key behavior of Sitejet Builder in the future.

To fix the issue:

  1. Get the Plesk license of the server that should be able to use Sitejet
  2. Create a side conversation in Zendesk to #sitejet-support. Include the server's license and request an API key. It may take a few hours to get one. Don't use @here tag on Slack, communicate over Zendesk.

Note: They will send the API key in a private message. Make sure whoever requests it won't have vacations the next day.

  3. Back up the Plesk database on the affected server:

    # plesk db dump > backup.sql

  4. Update the Sitejet API key on the server:

    # plesk db "UPDATE ModuleSettings SET value = '<sitejet_api_key>' WHERE name = 'plesk_editor_api_key'"

Note: If that doesn't solve it (because it doesn't in some situations), use the steps in the [INTERNAL] Sitejet Builder editing error: Can not access Sitejet Website Builder for this domain. Please check if this domain has been migrated or restored onto another server article and request manual intervention from Sitejet support.

  • As far as I know, the domain has not been migrated from another server.
