Installing extension Slave DNS Manager on Plesk for Windows fails: BIND DNS Server is not installed. To install Slave DNS Manager in Plesk for Windows, copy the "rndc.exe" file to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Plesk\dns\bin\rndc.exe" folder

Symptoms

Installing the extension Slave DNS Manager on Plesk for Windows fails:

Could not install the Slave DNS Manager extension

The execution of pre-install.php has failed with the following message:
BIND DNS Server is not installed. To install Slave DNS Manager in Plesk for Windows, copy the "rndc.exe" file to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Plesk\dns\bin\rndc.exe" folder.

Cause

Since Plesk Obsidian 18.0.60, BIND DNS server is no longer shipped with Plesk, so the binary rndc.exe (the BIND DNS server distributive, which is required for Slave DNS Manager to work) should be obtained by the server's administrator and put to the folder specified in the error message.

Resolution

1. Go to the official BIND DNS server website and download the last available BIND DNS server version with Windows support - 9.17.50.

2. Unpack the downloaded archive and put the files below from there to the folder highlighted in the error - C:\Program Files (x86)\Plesk\dns\bin in this example:

   libirs.dll
   libisc.dll
   libisccc.dll
