An error is shown in Plesk: AH00526: Syntax error on line 220 / AH00111: Config variable ${} is not defined

Symptoms

  • The following messages can be found at the Plesk Panel:

    PLESK_ERROR: AH00526: Syntax error on line 220 of /etc/httpd/conf/modsecurity.d/rules/tortix/modsec/10_asl_rules.conf:
    Error creating rule: The phrase file "/etc/httpd/conf/modsecurity.d/rules/tortix/modsec/sql.txt" could not be opened: No such file or directory
    [core:warn] [pid 1584:tid 140346616875136] AH00111: Config variable ${} is not defined
    [core:warn] [pid 1584:tid 140346616875136] AH00111: Config variable ${} is not defined
    [core:warn] [pid 1584:tid 140346616875136] AH00111: Config variable ${} is not defined
    [core:warn] [pid 1584:tid 140346616875136] AH00111: Config variable ${} is not defined

  • In some cases Apache service fails to start.

Cause

A temporary issue on Atomic side.

Resolution

  1. Connect to the server via SSH

  2. Execute the daily task to update ModSecurity manually:

    # plesk daily UpdateModSecurityRuleSet
