Performance Booster fails to be enabled for Pleks hosted domain: "gzip" directive is duplicate

Symptoms

Performance Booster can not be enabled for a domain in Plesk > Tools & Settings > Performance Booster > example.com. The following error appears:

gzip compression was enabled earlier in Domains > example.com > Apache & nginx > Additoinal nginx directives as per the following article.

Cause

Performance Booster extension does not detect custom gzip directives. 

Resolution

Apply either of solutions below:

• Remove the directives added earlier as per article
• Keep Performance Booster disabled for the domain in question.
