When will the PHP 7.4 version disappear from the Plesk Installer?

kb: how-to php74

Question

  • Will PHP 7.4 disappear from the Plesk update/installation list?
  • Does Plesk provide Extended Long Term Support (ELTS) or security updates for PHP 7.4?

Answer

Plesk ships PHP 7.4 as is without Extended Long Term Support (ELTS) and will be still provided as delivered by the PHP vendor.

Note that the PHP vendor has stopped releasing updates with security patches for PHP 7.4 on November 28th 2022 as described here, this is why PHP 7.4 is marked as outdated in Plesk

If you are using a Debian-based OS, you may check deb.sury.org and use their repository for PHP 7.4 ELTS once php.net and hence Plesk stops providing updates.

Warning: While this PHP version is still available for installation it can be enabled on a website at one's own risk, same applies for the usage of outdated PHP handlers from 3rd party repositories.
