Is it possible to issue a Let's Encrypt Wildcard certificate without the main domain in SAN?

kb: bug Plesk for Windows Plesk for Linux ext: le

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux
  • Plesk for Windows

Question

Is it possible to issue a Let's Encrypt Wildcard SSL certificate without main domain in SAN and verify only via DNS-01 and not HTTP-01 challenges?

Is it possible to skip the HTTP challenge while issuing a Let's Encrypt Wildcard certificate?

Answer

Currently, Plesk only issues Let's Encrypt Wildcard certificates with the main domain in SAN, due to which it is required for the main domain to pass both needed Let's Encrypt challenges DNS-01 and HTTP-01.

If you want to have the ability to issue Let's Encrypt Wildcard certificates by using only the DNS-01 challenge for future Plesk versions, you can take part in our product improvement and vote for this feature on the following link:

Issue Let's Encrypt Wildcard (and others) certificate without main domain in SAN (use DNS-01 challenge only) – Your Ideas for Plesk

Top-ranked suggestions are likely to be included in the next versions of Plesk.

We have https://jira.plesk.ru/browse/PPM-2759 to track this feature.
