Issuing a Digicert GeoTrust certificate via Plesk is stuck: The certificate is being issued

Symptoms

Unable to issue Digicert GeoTrust certificate using SSL It! extension. The below message persists under Domains > example.com > SSL It!:

CONFIG_TEXT: The certificate is being issued

Cause

Since this is an OV/EV certificate ir requires a public phone number available as described here.

Resolution

Follow the instructions from https://docs.digicert.com/manage-certificates/organization-domain-management/tls-certificate-organization-validation-process/ to complete the validation process.
