Symptoms

  • Unable to update WordPress via WP Toolkit when the instance language is not English, for example, Lithuanian:

    PLESK_ERROR: Failed to update selected items.
    Error: Atsisiuntimas nepavyko.
    Updating to version 5.9 (lt_LT)...
    Atnaujinimas siunčiamas iš https://lt.wordpress.org/wordpress-5.9-lt_LT.zip...

  • The URL in the error message shows "Release not found."

Cause

Product issues:

  • #EXTWPTOOLK-8641 "Certain localized WordPress installations can now be properly updated via WP Toolkit."
    Fixed in:
  • #EXTWPTOOLK-8623 "You can now update your localized WordPress insallation to the latest version of WordPress even if it’s not available in the current WordPress installation language."

Please consider updating your server:

Workaround

If update is not possible for some reason you may try the following

workaround
  1. Log in to Plesk.

  2. Navigate to WordPress > example.com > Setup and change the language to English.

  3. Update the instance.

  4. Change the language back.

Alternatively, ignore the error and wait until the wordpress.org will publish the update for the  core/plugins/themes/
