File Manager for a specific domain cannot be accessed via Plesk File Manager: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'state')

Symptoms

  • When accessing Domains example.com File Manager, the following error is displayed:

    CONFIG_TEXT: TypeError Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'state')

  • When Plesk debug mode is enabled, the following error appears in /var/log/plesk/panel.log:

    CONFIG_TEXT: [util_exec] proc_close() failed ['/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/filemng' 'exampleuser' 'list' 'dirs' '/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs' '--in-bytes'] with exit code [1] ERR [panel] PleskUtilException: '/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/filemng' 'exampleuser' 'list' 'dirs' '/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs' '--in-bytes' failed with code 1. stderr: filemng: stat failed: No such file or directory System error 2: No such file or directory

Cause

The domain's document root directory (or the vhost directory structure) is missing from the server file system.

Resolution

  1. Log in to Plesk.
  2. Re-apply the hosting settings to recreate the missing directory structure:

    Go to Domains example.com Hosting & DNS Hosting Settings.

  3. Click Save (without making any changes).
  4. (Optional) If the directory was missing because it was deleted, restore the data from a backup:
