Can not issue Let's Encrypt certificates for plesk.page domains: the domain's nameservers may be malfunctioning

Symptoms

  • Let's Encrypt certificates can not be issued for plesk.page domains.
  • The following error is recorded in the panel log:

CONFIG_TEXT: ERR [extension/sslit] Error happened while certificate processing : <span class='plesk-ext-letsencrypt--ui-problem-adviser-unauthorized-common-error' hidden></span>Could not issue a Let's Encrypt SSL/TLS certificate for <b>example.203-0-113-2.plesk.page</b>. Authorization for the domain failed.
Detail: DNS problem: SERVFAIL looking up A for example.203-0-113-2.plesk.page - the domain's nameservers may be malfunctioning; DNS problem: SERVFAIL looking up AAAA for example.203-0-113-2.plesk.page - the domain's nameservers may be malfunctioning</div><br/>

  • Temporary domains can not be created as well with this error in Plesk panel:

PLESK_ERROR: An unexpected error occurred.

  • The domains do not resolve from all locations when checked here:

https://dnschecker.org/

Cause

Temporary issues with the Plesk DNS cluster, which have been resolved on March 12th 2025.

There was a DDoS attack towards the Plesk DNS cluster, but the issue has been resolved:

Resolution

No actions required.
