Website does not work: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 5: Access is denied. (MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver, C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\Connector ODBC 5.1\myodbc5.dll).

Symptoms

• The following error message is shown:

  CONFIG_TEXT: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 5: Access is denied. (MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver, C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\Connector ODBC 5.1\myodbc5.dll).

  when

  • opening a website in a web browser
  • setting up ODBC connection in Plesk:
• The ODBC connector 5.1 was installed manually

Cause

The folder C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\Connector ODBC 5.1\ has incorrect permissions.

Resolution

1. Connect to your Plesk server via RDP.
2. In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\ and right-click on Connector ODBC 5.1 to open its Properties.
3. Switch to the Security tab and click Edit.
4. Add "read & execute", "list folder contents" and "read" permissions to users psaadm_users, psaadm and psacln.
