Symptoms
- Unable to connect MS SQL server with error:
CONFIG_TEXT: Database server was updated with error: The test connection to the database server has failed because of network problems: Failed to connect to the database server: SQLSTATE[28000]: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'sa'.
- Resetting password for 'sa' user according to the article does not work;
- Checking in Microsoft SQL Management Studio under Security > Logins > sa > Properties > Status shows "Login is locked out"
Causes
The 'sa' user is locked on the system level.
Resolution
Unlock the account and reset the password again.
