Unable to import MySQL/MariaDB database from .tmp file in Plesk: ERROR: ASCII '\0' appeared in the statement

Symptoms

MySQL/MariaDB database import fails with the error:

PLESK_ERROR: Unable to import the <db_name> dump:
Unable to restore database 'db_name'
mysql: [Warning] Using a password on the command line interface can be insecure.
ERROR: ASCII '\0' appeared in the statement, but this is not allowed unless option --binary-mode is enabled and mysql is run in non-interactive mode. Set --binary-mode to 1 if ASCII '\0' is expected. Query: 'TAPE'.
(Error code 22)

Cause

MSSQL dump restores into MySQL/MariaDB database.

Resolution

  1. Log in to Plesk.

  2. Go to Domains > example.com > Databases.

  3. Create an empty MSSQL database by clicking Add Database. Select an MSSQL database server during creation.

  4. Click Import Dump button and select the database dump file.
