Question

How to change the Fail2ban ban period and the number of attempts before the ban for the required Jail or Server-wide in Plesk?

Answer

For required Jail
  1. Log into Plesk.
  2. Go to Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning (Fail2Ban) > Jails > Jail_name > Change Settings.
  3. Set the required values into the IP address ban period and The maximum number of failed login attempts fields:

  4. Press the OK button to apply the changes.

Server-wide settings
  1. Log into Plesk.
  2. Go to Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning (Fail2Ban) > Settings.
  3. Set the required values into the IP address ban period and The maximum number of failed login attempts fields:

  4. Press the OK button to apply the changes.

Note: Configure stricter server-wide settings to allow you to better cope with attacks on the server.

For example: 

  • IP address ban period - 3600
  • Time interval for detection of subsequent attacks - 3600
  • Number of failures before the IP address is banned - 1 or 2
