Plesk VPN was a component that allowed setting up an OpenVPN service on a server. However, due to consistently low installation numbers and significant resources needed to update it for compatibility with Plesk Obsidian it has been decided to stop its development.
-
What to do? The OpenVPN can be installed and configured manually using official instructions
-
To simplify the UX and remove rarely used non-default color schemes, only two color schemes are available since Plesk Obsidian: Obsidian and Onyx.
-
What to do? If more color schemes are required please vote for this feature in Plesk UserVoice portal:

- File Server, also known as File Sharing, was a component that allowed Plesk administrators to share directories on a network directly from the Plesk. Due to the low usage of this component it was decided to drop it.
- What to do? Use a different solution, for example, install SeaFile extension
- Windows 2008 R2 reached the end-of-life on January 14, 2020 and not supported anymore.
- What to do? For those who use Plesk on this OS, we recommend migrating to supported Windows OS using Plesk Migrator
- This used to be an excellent OS, but unfortunately, it’s outdated since April 1, 2019. As we are dedicated to focus our efforts on the latest, most secure OSes recommended by OS vendors, we are dropping Ubuntu 14.04 support.
- What to do? For those who use Plesk on this OS, we recommend migrating to a different OS using Plesk Migrator.
-
Replaced the auto-reply function developed by Plesk with native solutions provided by the supported mail servers. This improvement increases email sending and deliverability when DMARC, DKIM, and SPF are used.
-
What to do? For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
- The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows. Due to security and maintenance risks, we are taking steps to ensure that no Plesk servers continue using BIND as of Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70. If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS.
- What to do? We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release
