Applicable to:
- Plesk for Linux
Symptoms
- Going to Plesk > Tools & Settings > Backup Manger via Google Chrome (by reaching an exact URL such as https://203.0.113.2/admin/backup/list/admin/backup/list/ on port 443) and attempting to download a larger backup (1.5 GB or larger) by pressing on the downward arrow icon
is interrupted whenever 500 MB are downloaded, regardless of how many times you try
- There are no related errors in all of the following log files:
/var/log/plesk/panel.log/var/log/plesk/sw-cp-server/error_log/var/log/plesk/sw-cp-server/sw-engine.log - The All domains and subdomains that resolve to the server IP address but are not used for hosting option is used in Plesk > Tools & Settings > Customize Plesk URL
Cause
When you use the All domains and subdomains that resolve to the server IP address but are not used for hosting option is used in Plesk > Tools & Settings > Customize Plesk URL, it allows you to view Plesk in your browser via port 443 instead of its own port, which is 8443.
However, when you do so, you are not viewing the Plesk GUI via the sw-cp-server web server, but you are viewing it through either the Apache or nginx (depending on your exact server configuration) web server.
Due to this, you are also experiencing limitations that are set within that web server's own configuration files, which are different from those of the sw-cp-server web server.
Resolution
In order to resolve the issue, you should simply open the Plesk GUI via the 8443 port by adding it to the URL of your browser.
For example, instead of entering Plesk via https://example.server.hostname/login_up.php, you should enter it via https://example.server.hostname:8443/login_up.php
That way, when you navigate to Plesk > Tools & Settings > Backup Manger, you will be reaching a URL such as https://203.0.113.2:8443/admin/backup/list/admin/backup/list/ and the sw-cp-server web server will be the server that serves the backup file, due to which you will not reach any limitations that may exist within the configuration files of the Apache or nginx web servers.
