Question
-
What happens to existing Horde instances, and do users need to manually switch to another webmail client like Roundcube to maintain webmail access?
Answer
As of April 2025 (Plesk Obsidian version 18.0.69), Horde webmail is no longer installable or supported in Plesk. Existing Horde installations are not removed automatically and stay in place, but they no longer receive updates, security fixes, or technical support.
Users with existing Horde instances can continue using them at their own risk and no automatic migration to another webmail client (e.g., Roundcube) will occur.
Additional information
To switch a domain or all domains from Horde to Roundcube, refer to the following article: How to change webmail for a domain / all domains in Plesk
Comments
It would be more helpful to outline steps required to safely transition servers off Horde onto Roundcube.
For example outlining considerations such as data that might be stored within Horde (contacts, calendar events etc.); how to identify if any exist and avoid accidentally losing them, and the corresponding CLI commands to bulk switch all sites currently using Horde to Roundcube.
