Can't receive mail: No such user in mail authorization database

Symptoms

  • Unable to receive emails for any mailbox with the following error in /var/log/maillog

    CONFIG_TEXT: No such user 'john.doe@example.com' in mail authorization database

  • Unable to connect to any mailbox through mail clients or webmail

Cause

Mail server misconfiguration.

Resolution

  1. Connect to the server via SSH

  2. Execute the following command:

    # plesk repair mail -y

  • Hello,

    maybe I have similar problem. Sending spam via email address witch doesn't exist in Plesk. How it this possible. Authorization words because I see this in Postfix log:
    Oct 20 21:33:38 vps postfix/smtpd[2736]: 17FE27BE0F26: client=unknown[5.230.xx.xx], sasl_method=CRAM-MD5, sasl_username=admin@domain.tld.

    So I cant find email address admin@domain.tld. but there is only info@domain.tld. How it this even possible???

    I run this " plesk repair mail -y" but it didnt find any problem.

    I found the problem. Email was alias to some other email address. Mystery solved :)
