Question

How to convert CentOS/AlmaLinux/Rocky Linux to CloudLinux before and after installing Plesk?

Answer

Conversion before installing Plesk
  1. Convert a clean CentOS 7/8 (CentOS Stream is not supported) or AlmaLinux 8 or Rocky Linux 8 server without Plesk to CloudLinux as described in the CloudLinux documentation: CloudLinux Documentation: Converting existing servers.

  2. After the conversion is completed, install Plesk: How to Install Plesk for Linux.

Conversion on server with Plesk already installed
  1. Log into Plesk.

  2. Install the extension CloudLinux OS.

  3. Buy a CloudLinux license from Plesk Online store using one of the following ways:

    • Go to the menu Extensions > My Extensions > CloudLinux OS, select the desired license option, click Buy, and proceed with the purchase in the opened window.

    • Go to the menu Extensions > My Extensions > CloudLinux OS > Open, click Buy a license, and proceed with the purchase in the opened Plesk Online Store tab.

  4. Install the newly purchased license in Plesk.

  5. Go to the menu Extensions > My Extensions > CloudLinux OS > Open, click Install, and wait until the conversion is finished (normally, it may takes from 10 to 60 minutes).

Note: Conversion can be also done manually:
