Migration between Plesk servers cannot be started: Version of Plesk on the target server is lower than version of Plesk on the source

Symptoms

Cannot properly initiate Tools & Settings > Migration & Transfer Manager with the following error in Plesk interface:

Note: Plesk versions specified in error message may vary

PLESK_ERROR: Version of Plesk on the target server (18.0.33) is lower than version of Plesk on the source server 'source' (18.0.36). Migration to lower version of Plesk is not supported by migration tool.

Cause

Migration from newer to older versions is not supported. The Plesk version on the destination server should be equal or higher than the Plesk version on the source server.

Resolution

As a workaround, it is possible to use the Site Import Extension to import websites and mail from the source Plesk server to the destination one.
