  • Okay, these two parts I understand. Now, how do I get a Let's Encrypt SSL certificate on the mail.domain.name domain for SSL SMTP and IMAP?

For normal web+mail hosting, I already need to apply some trickery and add a domain alias mail.domain.name to get that to work. In a subscription without web hosting, I can't apply for an SSL certificate at all. Secure email is a pain to configure in Plesk. I hope this will be improved in future updates.

  • This is crucial. We need the ability to generate SSL certificates specifically for email, so we don't have to create unnecessary subdomains like "mail.domain.com." Managing domains for email services on Plesk is a real hassle otherwise.

  • This article skips the critical part of securing the domain for the email with a certificate. As others commented, this is very painful to configure currently.
