Question
What SSL certificate is used when a website is previewed in Plesk using Website Preview feature via https connection?
Answer
There are three options for how to preview website (Tools & Settings > Website Preview):
- If Default Quick Preview option is used, the certificate is not used.
- If Quick Preview on a domain name in Plesk option is used, it is possible to preview the domain via https connection. The SSL certificate of the domain which is being previewed would be used, for example:
The Quick Preview on a domain name in Plesk is using the example.com.
The connection would be established with use of the certificate which is used by domain domain.com. - If Quick Preview on an external domain name option in use it is also possible to preview the domain via https connection. The SSL certificate of the domain which is set in Tools & Settings > Website Preview would be used, for example:
The Quick Preview on an external domain name is using the external-example.com. The connection would be established with use of the certificate which is used by domain external-example.com (due to the structure of the preview link, SSL does not work for them)
