Backup restoration warning in Plesk: An error occurred while updating domain settings: Cannot set limit 'disk_space_soft' value to '80'

Symptoms

  • Restore of a backup in Plesk is completed with the warning below:

    PLESK_WARN: WARNING: (Restore domain object 'example.com')

    Execution of /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/api-cli/domain_pref.php
    --update example.com -disk_space_soft 80B -ignore-nonexistent-options failed with return code 1.
    Stderr is
    An error occurred while updating domain settings: Cannot set limit 'disk_space_soft' value to '80'

  • The same warning message may appear during migration.

Cause

This is a Plesk bug with ID PPPM-10643.

Resolution

This warning can be safely ignored.

As a workaround, update the disk_space_soft value:

Click on a section to expand

On a service plan level:

1. Log in to Plesk.

2. Go to Service Plans > ServicePlanName > Resources.
3. Set value in Notify when disk space usage reaches to the required one:

On a subscription level:

1. Log in to Plesk.

2. Go to Subscriptions > example.com > Customize.
3. In the Resources tab set value for Notify when disk space usage reaches to the required one:
