How to install a specific 4.x version of ASP.NET on Windows Server with Plesk?

Note: According to this Microsoft Docs page, only a single 4.x version can be present on a system.
For example, installing ASP.NET version 4.8.0 will replace existing 4.x version. Any domain that is using ASP.NET 4.x version will be switched to ASP.NET version 4.8.0 automatically. It will be the only available option for 4.x versions at Domains > example.com > ASP.NET Settings list.

To install 4.x ASP.NET version, follow these steps:

1. Connect to a Plesk server via RDP.

2. Download the required ASP.NET Framework version from the official Microsoft website:

   • https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework

3. Execute the downloaded .exe file to install the package.

4. Once the installation is finished, reboot the server.

5. Log in to Plesk.

6. Go to Tools & Settings > Server Components and click Refresh to detect the changes.
