Websites hosted in Plesk are down after an update or reboot of the server: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Plesk for Linux kb: technical

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux

Symptoms

  • Websites are not accessible after an update or reboot of the server:

    CONFIG_TEXT: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

  • Plesk Firewall is installed and enabled.

  • The Firewalld service is up and running.

Cause

Firewalld is used along with Plesk Firewall. Since both services use the iptables utility, they are not compatible with each other and can cause such consequences as blocking all inbound and outbound connections to external services.

Resolution

  1. Connect to the Plesk server via SSH.

  2. Stop and disable firewalld:

    # systemctl stop firewalld && systemctl disable firewalld

  • Hi,

If I do this the IP Address banning is disabled. If I look in Plesk Panel Plesk Firewall AND IP Banning should be allowed to be used together.
