Excessive SRS header is displayed in From field in mail clients for some forwarded emails

Symptoms

  • In the forwarded email message there is excessive "From: SRS" header:

    From: SRS0=jggG=PI=example.com=test@example2.com

  • Some mail clients (e.g. Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird) can display this header in the From field:1.png

Cause

Product issue:

  • #PPPM-13296 "Mail messages forwarded from a Plesk server, or from one mail account to another on the same Plesk server no longer includes an unnecessary duplicate “From:” header."

Please consider updating your server:

Workaround

If update is not possible for some reason you may try the following

workaround
  1. Connect to the server via SSH;

  2. Disable add-from mail handler:

    # plesk sbin mail_handlers_control --disable --name add-from --type global --queue before-sendmail
