Applicable to:
- Plesk for Linux
Question
Does Plesk support Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat)?
Answer
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is supported starting from Plesk Obsidian 18.0.61.
Known limitations:
-
PHP 7.3 and older versions are not shipped because these handlers have reached their end of life.
Note: Unsupported PHP handlers can still be manually installed and added to Plesk.
- Mailman is currently not available, due to the bug on vendor side.
- MySQL 5.7 is not supported.
- .NET packages are not yet present in Microsoft repositories, so .NET Toolkit extension currently has only
dotnet8package, which is available in OS repositories. -
SOGo Webmail is supported, but only in nightly packages, which may affect the stability of SOGo Webmail.
Check EXTPLESK-5583 and https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sogo/5.9.1-1build1/+publishinghistory for more details.
Comments
Why not just use the current version? Is there anything against it? There is also a sync request, but who knows if they will respond to it, but they should, backporting the version makes no sense

When will the AWS AMI for Plesk with Ubuntu 24.04 be ready?
Has this been resolved? I did a fresh install through 1-click installer on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and I can see in Fail2Ban that IPs are being added in the chains.
Everyone, if the issue is not resolved for fail2ban for you, please follow this article: https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/23560932208535-Fail2ban-does-not-start-on-a-Plesk-server-with-Ubuntu-24-No-module-named-asynchat

What’s New?
(Plesk for Linux) Ubuntu 24.04 is now supported on x86-64 architecture, with certain limitations. Learn more about the Ubuntu 24.04 support limitations.
ARM-based servers are not supported at the moment.
Yitzchok Wagner At the moment there is no plan to add support for Ubuntu 24.04 on ARM due to its low usage and demand on that.
Alexander Davydov I feel like it's a bit chicken and egg. Maybe you'd see more usage of ARM if it was supported more. Arm has superior performance for web-specific workloads like PHP and MySQL. Up to 40% faster on Graviton2 versus equivalent x86 processors. It would be nice to see support.
I agree with Sam Malins, There are more starting to use ARM based processors and it would be nice to see support,
I manage multiple plesk servers all on ARM processors stuck on Ubuntu 22.
