Question

How to switch a domain to nginx-only hosting (without Apache) in Plesk?

Answer

After switching a domain to nginx-only hosting:

  • Check if the website is working with nginx.
  • Websites that use rewrite rules in the .htaccess file may not work properly, because the .htaccess file is not processed by nginx. For more information, visit this KB article.
  • Webmail will continue working on Apache.

For a domain
  1. Log in to Plesk.
  2. Go to Domains > example.com > Hosting & DNS tab > Apache & nginx Settings.
  3. In the nginx settings section, disable the Proxy mode setting.

  4. Apply the changes.
For all new domains under a service plan
  1. Log in to Plesk.
  2. Go to Service Plans > plan_name > Web Server tab.
  3. In the nginx settings section, disable the Proxy mode setting.
  4. Apply the changes.
