Question
Can Plesk manage disk space or extend a partition on a Linux-based server?
Answer
The Plesk control panel does not manage disk space or partitioning on Linux servers by design.
Disk space and partition management is a task reserved for the Linux system administrator that manages the Linux server.
If the server is running out of disk space, the following can be done:
-
Clean up temporary files in accordance with the following article.
-
If it is possible, add a new disk and change the default virtual hosts, mailbox or backup locations, so that data tied to them is stored on the new disk.
-
If the server filesystem has configured LVM, it is possible to extend the partition in accordance with the official virtual machine documentation.
Note: This task is not related to Plesk and is not covered by Plesk Technical Support. If the Linux system administrator of the server is not familiar with disk space management and partiitoning and you would like our professionals to handle this task on your behalf, you should submit a request to the the Plesk Professional Services team at https://www.plesk.com/professional-services/.
