How to block an IP address in Plesk Firewall?

Answer

For Plesk on Linux
  1. Log in to Plesk.
  2. Go to Tools & Settings > Firewall.

    Note: If Firewall is not available, install it using the instructions from this KB article.



     

  3. Verify that firewall protection is enabled.
  4. Click to add a new rule.
  5. Fill in the Name of the rule field, set Match direction according to the requirements and choose Deny in the Action field:



     

  6. Set the port or the port range, mark TCP or UDP protocol according to the needs and click Add. Added ports will appear in the table on the left side:

    Note: Leave the field empty to block access to all ports.



     

  7. Add the required IP address to field Add IP address or network: and click Add. The added IP addresses will appear in the table on the left side:



     

  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Apply Changes.
For Plesk on Windows
  1. Log in to Plesk.
  2. Go to Tools & Settings > Firewall.
  3. Verify that firewall protection is enabled.
  4. Switch to Firewall Rules tab.
  5. Click to add a new rule.
  6. Make sure the checkbox Turn on the rule is active. Fill in the The rule name field, set Profile according to the profile of the network interface (mark all of them if there are no confidence of which profile is in use):



     

  7. Choose Deny in the Action field, set the port or the port range, mark TCP or UDP protocol according to the needs:
  8. Note: Leave the field empty to block access to all ports.



     

  9. Add the required IP address to field Add IP address or network: and click Add. The added IP addresses will appear in the table on the left side:



     

  10. Click OK.

Examples:

To block an access to websites for a specific IP address

Match Direction: Incoming

Action: Deny

Ports:

  • TCP 80
  • UDP 80
  • TCP 443
  • UDP 443

Sources: 203.0.113.2

To block incoming mail from a specific IP address

Match Direction: Incoming

Action: Deny

Ports:

  • TCP 25
  • UDP 25
  • TCP 465
  • UDP 465

  • If you wanted to block incoming mail, wouldn't you use 110, 143, 993 and 995, rather than 25 and 465?   Aren't those are outgoing ports?
