Question
How to restore an accidentally removed domain or other object included in a backup in Plesk?
Answer
When a subscription or customer's or a reseller's account is removed in Plesk, the corresponding subscription-level backup files are removed from the server.
However, the backup might still persist if it is included in server-level Plesk backups:
-
Check for available backups at Tools & Settings > Backup Manager.
-
If the backup exists, click on it, set Type of object to restore to Subscription (or Customer, or Reseller) > select the required subscription > Restore.
If the backup is stored externally, i.e. on an FTP server or on the workstation, you may upload the backup to Plesk at Tools & Settings > Backup Manager > Upload and restore it.
If there are no Plesk backups, and Plesk is hosted on a virtual machine and snapshots were made, a restoration from a snapshot is possible. If the snapshot was made long ago and restore it would mean data loss, the following can be done:
-
Restore the snapshot to another VM.
-
Create a backup of the subscription on this VM.
-
Create the subscription in Plesk.
-
Restore all data from the backup.
Note: Restoration from snapshot means a restoration of the whole server, not only Plesk.
