Plesk Installer fails: The installation of the package 'aspnetcoremodule' failed with code 1603

Symptoms

When updating Plesk, the operation fails with the error message:

PLESK_INFO: Upgrading Microsoft ASP.NET Core Module...
Failed to install 'C:\ProgramData\Plesk\Installer\cache\ASPNETCORE-WIN\thirdparty-windows\aspnetcoremodule_x64_en_12.2.19169.msi': Fatal error during installation. (Error code 1603)

ERROR: The installation of the package 'aspnetcoremodule' failed with code 1603. (upgrade: Upgrading Microsoft ASP.NET Core Module...)

Cause

Unclear.

Resolution

1. Connect to the Plesk server via RDP.

2. Go to Windows Start > All Programs > Windows System > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

3. Uninstall the following components:

   • Microsoft ASP.NET Core Module

   • Microsoft ASP.NET Core Module V2

4. Restart the server.

5. Once the server is started, launch Plesk Installer and finish the update.

   Note: In Plesk Installer, select Microsoft ASP.NET Core (under Microsoft ASP.NET Core hosting features) to install it back.
