Symptoms

Backups in Plesk - including scheduled backups - can not be created with:
PLESK_ERROR: Error: The backup process failed: can't concat str to bytes

Plesk Obsidian has been recently updated to version 18.0.47.
Cause
Product issue:
- #PPPM-13733 "Creation of a domain backup no longer fails when the “Exclude log files” or “Exclude specific files from the backup” options are enabled."
Fixed in:- Plesk Obsidian 29 September 2022 (Linux)
Resolution
Please consider updating your server:

If update is not possible for some reason you may try the following

As a workaround, create backups including all files.

Got "expected str, bytes or os.PathLike object, not int" on scheduled backup jobs (with remote storage as target) after updating to 18.0.47. It does **not** help to include all files.
Got the same bug with Plesk 18.0.47 ...

This is another issue which is described in the following article: https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/7861784085010. Please consider disabling multivolume backups until the bug is fixed.
This problem is NOT solved with the update of 29 september 2022.

Backups with excluded logs/files can be created as expected now. This issue was fixed in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.47.1.
However, there is another issue: https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/7861784085010. Please consider following this second article to be aware of when the fix is released.
