Question
Does Plesk support AlmaLinux as an alternative to CentOS 8?
Answer
Yes, Plesk supports AlmaLinux OS started from Plesk Obsidian 18.0.35.
The conversion from CentOS 8 with Plesk to AlmaLinux is supported, as well.
In-place conversion of CentOS 8 to AlmaLinux is a recommended way to move from CentOS 8 (which has reached its EOL on December 21, 2021). To convert, download and run AlmaLinux script on a CentOS 8 server.
Warning: Script execution time is approximately 10 minutes. Thus, it is recommended to perform conversion during a planned maintenance window to minimize downtime.

So, it seems like on a clean installation, Docker local node is not supported on AlmaLinux?
Please consider to support Rocky Linux as well, led by CentOS founder Gregory Kurtzer. Thanks.
Support VzLinux 8.x as well please. Seems to be a lot better than AlmaLinux.
Currently with AlmaLinux 8.4 the Plesk Firewall is not working as it should e.g. you block SSH access, but you can still try login.
Also reported this issue in a support ticket.
This is exactly what also happens in Plesk with Centos 7 so I do not see why Almalinux will be different. Just handle IPtables by yourself, much more efficient and with more resources at your disposal than using the basic Plesk Firewall.
I would be interested to know in the article approximately how long the conversion takes.
We also need Vzlinux 8.x as a solid alternative. More and more customers request this.
Unfortunately we have to turn them down and advice them to use DirectAdmin instead. DirectAdmin supports Vzlinux 8.x without any issues and it's really rock-solid and is really maintained often.
It shouldn't be that hard to add support for it imho.
Reminder: add Vzlinux 8.x support. Thank you.
In reply to Karl May's comment about how long it takes... from a freshly updated Centos 8.5 server, following the REPO changes and then the single Bash script - it took about 10 minutes!
Updated about 900+ packages and installed/replaced about 1GB of data, and that was on a small 4-core server. I expected all sorts of errors/issues, but must admit - it was a very simple process and everything is working perfectly post-migration.
I initially ran a Stream upgrade and had a few package conflicts (especially with libmemcached, so watch out). But AlmaLinux was a clean install, highly recommend.
@Alan Sawyers
The answer is unfortunately too late for me, but thanks anyway. ;) In my case it took about 10 minutes and went through without errors.
I need to delete my account on Plesk
Reminder: add Vzlinux 8.x support. Thank you.
anybody try to upgrade directly from Centos 7 with Plesk to Almalinux 8.5 using elevate ? is it working ? thanks
I would love to learn more about an upgrade path from Centos 7 with Plesk to Almalinux 8.5
