- Plesk for Linux
Note: This article has the reference to the issue with the fix available:
- #PPPM-9919 "mail lost when dovecot is down (as PPP-40191)"
- Plesk Obsidian Release Candidate 1.0 04 June 2019
Postfix is used as mail server
Dovecot is used as POP3/IMAP server
Mails are lost when Postfix treats email as delivered in case Dovecot is down. Following may be found in
CONFIG_TEXT:postfix-local: postfix-local: firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com, dirname=/var/qmail/mailnames
dovecot: service=lda, firstname.lastname@example.org, ip=. Error: userdb lookup: connect(/var/run/dovecot/auth-userdb) failed: Connection refused
dovecot: lda: Fatal: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information.
postfix/pipe: 682101A2BAE: email@example.com, relay=plesk_virtual, delay=1.2, delays=0.13/0/0/1.1, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (delivered via plesk_virtual service)
postfix/qmgr: 682101A2BAE: removed
This behavior is recognized as the bug with ID #PPPM-9919 which will be fixed in future Plesk releases.
Currently, there is no workaround available for this issue or any way to restore messages that already lost.
