Postfix is used as mail server;
Dovecot is used as POP3/IMAP server;
Postfix treats email as delivered in case Dovecot is down. Following may be found in
CONFIG_TEXT:postfix-local: postfix-local: firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com, dirname=/var/qmail/mailnames
dovecot: service=lda, firstname.lastname@example.org, ip=. Error: userdb lookup: connect(/var/run/dovecot/auth-userdb) failed: Connection refused
dovecot: lda: Fatal: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information.
postfix/pipe: 682101A2BAE: email@example.com, relay=plesk_virtual, delay=1.2, delays=0.13/0/0/1.1, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (delivered via plesk_virtual service)
postfix/qmgr: 682101A2BAE: removed
Such emails are lost.
This behavior is recognized as the bug with ID #PPPM-9919.
This behavior will be fixed in one of the future Plesk updates.
Currently, there is no workaround for this or any way to restore messages that already lost.
