- Plesk for Linux
How to verify that a whole server backup created via Plesk > Tools & Settings > Backup Manager > Back Up has the required size?
Note: the Domain configuration, Mail configuration and content and User files and databases options are enabled on the backup creation settings page, the Type is set to Full, the Exclude specific files from the backup and Exclude log files checkboxes are unmarked.
Make sure that no errors were meet during backup creation:
Navigate to the Plesk > Tools & Settings > Backup Manager page.
Check the backup status - green mark means that the backup is valid and does not contain errors:
Calculate the server-wide disk usage by Plesk objects:
Note: the script below depends on the Include in the disk space usage calculation settings in Plesk > Tools & Settings > Server Settings - disabled options will not be included in disk usage calculations.
Enable all options (the backup files created by the administrator and domain backup files can be left unmarked) to get the correct estimation mark further.
The script is working with requests to the
disk_usagetable of the
psadatabase, which values are updated once a day during Daily Maintenance Task execution.
If it required to get up-to-date values, run the Daily Maintenance Task execution manually before execution steps below, however, its execution can take significant time (depends on server resources, existing domains, mailboxes, etc).
Connect to the server via SSH.
Download the attached file:
# wget https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/360006774454/disk_usage_calculation
Make the downloaded script executable:
# chmod +x disk_usage_calculation
Execute the command below to get the valid and grouped information about server disk usage by Plesk objects:
Total websites content disk usage = 10000 MB
Total mailbox disk usage = 900 MB
Total databases disk usage = 200 MB
Total domains backup disk usage = 3000 MB
Other disk usage = 70 MB
Full server disk usage = 11170 MB
The full server backup size is close to the Full server disk usage value gotten above (excluding the influence of the compression).
