Changing the Administrator password of the WordPress instance via Plesk > Domains > example.com > WordPress > Setup > Change is taking a lot of time:

The external SMTP server is configured and the Allow user scripts to send mail through this SMTP server (using the specified username and password) directive is enabled in Plesk > Tools & Settings > External SMTP Server.

Check the external SMTP server configuration.
Disable the Allow user scripts to send mail through this SMTP server (using the specified username and password) directive in Plesk > Tools & Settings > External SMTP Server.
