- Plesk for Linux
When mail is sent to a non-existent user using a php-mail form, Qmail sends
failure_notice to Plesk administrator address
[email protected] which is set in Plesk > Profile & Preferences > Email address.
However, when Postfix is used as a mail server, no email is sent to the administrator.
Is it related to some specific Qmail customization?
Is it possible to disable the notifications?
When mail is sent not in SMTP session (i.e. via Sendmail), Qmail generates an internal bounce to postmaster to notify him about the issue. Postmaster alias in this case points to administrator email:
# cat /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-postmaster
This behavior is specific for Qmail while Postfix drops such emails.
To disable Qmail
failure_notice emails sending to Plesk administrator perform the following actions:
Connect to server via SSH.
Execute the following command:
# echo '#' > /var/qmail/control/doublebounceto
Restart the qmail service:
# service qmail restart
