How to access a website, if the domain is no longer pointing to the server?
How to preview a website?
The following options are available:
With a registered Domain
- Move the files to a domain, which is already accessible. For instance, if there is domain
example.com, then create a folder "JohnDoe"(design name) and then move all the files to this folder. Then the site can be accessed at
- Another option is to have a domain like
example.comand then to create a subdomain like
sub.example.comand then put all the files in there like you would have also done with a normal domain.
Without a registered Domain
It is possible to access the site using Preview link:
To preview a site:
Go to Websites & Domains.
Click Preview below the domain name of the website that you want to preview.
Add IP and domain name to hosts file of your computer, which can be found:
And add the following entry:
CONFIG_TEXT: 18.104.22.168 example.com
Note: it is required to replace 22.214.171.124 with Plesk server IP and example.com with the domain name.
Set internal domain example.com as default domain for the public IP address:
Go to Tools & Settings > IP Addresses > 192.0.2.2/126.96.36.199 > Default site > select example.com from drop-down menu.
To access the domain type in public IP address in the browser:
http://188.8.131.52:80or if it is subdomain of site set as default:
http://184.108.40.206/<subdomain document root directory>.
Note: example.com should be assigned to the IP address, the changes were made to in Domains > example.com > Hosting Settings.
