Plesk update fails with one of the following error:
PLESK_ERROR: E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
PLESK_ERROR: E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it?
The same error can appear during Ruby or other component installation. As well as system packages installation/upgrade.
Note: if you don't have root access to Plesk via SSH, contact your hosting provider regarding the issue
Connect to the server using SSH.
Execute the following command to list
# ps auxx | grep 'dpkg\|apt'
root 1204 1.6 0.5 43264 5924 pts/1 S+ 17:05 0:00 apt-get update
_apt 1207 0.0 0.2 40288 2900 pts/1 S+ 17:05 0:00 /usr/lib/apt/methods/http
aptitudeprocesses, where 1204 and 1207 are processed IDs:
# kill 1204 1207
Continue with Plesk update:
# plesk installer update --repatch
Alternatively, restart the server, if it is acceptable.
