How can the Apache restart time be reduced?
The amount of time that Apache needs to restart depend on both, the amount of domains and the hardware.
To ensure that Apache will restart quicker, the best way is to improve the hardware, especially to use SSD.
Speaking of web-servers in general, the other option is to move as much functions as possible from Apache to Nginx, including:
- Serve static files directly by Nginx.
- If the dynamic pages are in PHP, should be served with PHP-FPM via Nginx.
Another recommendation is not to use Apache graceful restart because it takes more time.
More information on how to setup Apache and Nginx settings can be found in Plesk official documentation through the following link: Apache and Nginx Settings
