- Plesk Onyx for Linux
How do backups to remote storage (FTP or cloud) work?
When a backup is configured to be created on a remote storage, Plesk does not create a full local copy of it. Instead, Plesk transfers the backup in parts:
First, a backup file of the largest Plesk domain service (database, mailbox, website web content) is created locally as a temporary archive in
Then this archive is transferred to a remote storage.
After the archive has been uploaded to a remote storage, it is deleted from the Plesk server.
- The next backup file is created.
Note: Make sure that there is enough free disk space on a Plesk server for the largest Plesk domain service. For example, if a mailbox or database size is 3GB, there should be at least 3GB free disk space.
