Unable to start apache: Could not open configuration file: No such file or directory

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 10.x for Linux

Symptoms

Unable to start apache2 due to the following error:

Syntax error on line 278 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf:

Syntax error on line 8 of /etc/apache2/conf.d/zz010_psa_httpd.conf:
Syntax error on line 10 of /opt/psa/admin/conf/vhosts_bootstrap.conf:
Could not open configuration file /var/www/vhosts/example.com/conf/14526955140.80605600_httpd.include: No such file or directory

Cause

For some reasons the domain was removed, but configuration file was not.

Resolution

Make a copy of current vhosts_bootstrap.conf into another directory:

# /opt/psa/admin/conf/vhosts_bootstrap.conf /root/bootstrap.conf_back

Open /opt/psa/admin/conf/vhosts_bootstrap.conf in editor and delete the issued line (in our example it is line 10):

# vi /opt/psa/admin/conf/vhosts_bootstrap.conf

Start webserver:

# service apache2 start
