Crontab secure shell is incorrectly configured after migration

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux

Symptoms

Saved chroot shell fails to restore When migration is done from a Debian-like OS to another Unix OS (or vice-versa).

Cause

During the migration, the chroot shell is not moved to the new location:

  • In Debian-like OSes, the absolute path to the default chroot shell is /opt/psa/bin/chrootsh

  • In other Unix OSes, the absolute path to the shell is /usr/local/psa/bin/chrootsh

Resolution

  1. Determine the correct path to chrootsh on the destination host with this command:

    # grep chroot /etc/shells
  2. Manually reconfigure the crontab_secure_shell setting on the destination host with this command:

    # /usr/local/psa/bin/server_pref -u -crontab-secure-shell <path to chrootsh>`
